RAWALPINDI, April 21: Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Saturday organised a declamation contest on: “Iqbal aur Asir-e-Hazir ka Pakistanand a Kalam Iqbal competition based on the poetry of Allama Iqbal among the school students in connection with 74th death anniversary of the poet.

Dr Fareha Nighat, Principal Government Degree College for Girls, Dhoke Kala Khan and Patron-in-Chief of Rawalpindi Arts Council, Naheed Manzoor, accompanied by Resident Director Waqar Ahmed were present on the occasion.

The competition was divided into three categories: speech competition, national single and group songs.

Iqbal Tabasum, Riaz Hussain, Salman Shah and Zafar Alam were appointed as judges.

Minahil Mohiuddin from Fauji Foundation School (FFS) bagged first, Sabeen Iqbal from Joint Staff Public School (JSPS) got second while Hifsa Nasir from Sir Syed Public School grabbed third position in the speech competition. In first category of national song single, Sajad Ali from FFS secured first position, Nawal Zain from JSPS second and Wasia Nawaz from Sir Syed Public School third.

Similarly, in second category of group song, Sir Syed Public School got first position, JSPS and FFS second while Pakistan Cambridge and The Rising School succeeded in securing third position.

Dr Fareha Nighat, Principal Government Degree College for Girls Dhoke Kala Khan and Patron-in-Chief of Rawalpindi Arts Council Naheed Manzoor distributed shields and certificates among the winners.

Fateha was also offered for those who killed in plane crash.
