PESHAWAR, March 1: Additional judge of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Fazal Haq Abbasi, has resigned due to personal reasons, official sources said on Thursday.

Justice Abbasi had taken oath as additional judge in August 2011. He was appointed as additional judge for one year by the President of Pakistan on the recommendation of Judicial Commission for appointment of judges.

An official at the high court said that Justice Abbasi had sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan. He said that some circles had been trying to convince him to withdraw his resignation.

Justice Abbasi has presently been serving at the Circuit bench of the high court at Swat (Darul Qaza).

Prior to his elevation to the bench Justice Abbasi was also member of the Judicial Commission from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides being member of the Pakistan Bar Council.
