KHAIRPUR, March 1: A police constable committed suicide after killing two men, including his colleague, with official weapon at Mastoi Morr near a police picket in the limits of Babarloi police station on Thursday.

The SHO of Babarloi police station told reporters that Constable Abdul Rasheed Shaikh opened fire at Constable Abdul Razzaq Gilal and his friend Badshah Shaikh near the picket early on Thursday morning when he was returning home after performing duty.

Abdul Razzaq Gilal, 24, and Badshah Shaikh were seriously injured and later died, he said. Abdul Rasheed himself committed suicide with official weapon after learning about the death of the two, he said.

Both the police constables were posted at Babarloi police station.

Babarloi police brought the bodies to Khairpur civil hospital and handed them over to relatives after post mortem. All three deceased are said to be residents of Babarloi town.

Badshah Shaikh was a vendor. He used to sell fruits and other eatables in buses.

Khairpur SP Irfan Baloch has formed an inquiry team with SSP Ghulam Akbar Wagan as its head to conduct an inquiry into the incident and prepare a report within 24 hours.

SSP Ghulam Akbar said that he had visited the crime scene and would submit the report after completing inquiry.

No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report. The motive behind the murder and suicide could not be ascertained.
