KOHAT/LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 8: Police have been directed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, remove encroachments from Kohat bazaar and launch a campaign against unlicensed drivers.
Chairing a meeting here on Wednesday, DIG Masood Khan Afridi directed police to take across the board action against the ‘illegal’ drivers without sparing anyone and ensure implementation of traffic laws without any concession.
He said that officers should formulate a strict and workable traffic policy for seizing fake driving licences.
Meanwhile, officials of Pakistan Railways, district administration and police held a meeting in Lakki Marwat on Wednesday to devise a plan for removing illegal encroachments from railway’s land in different parts of the district.
DCO Nisar Ahmad and DPO Gulzar Ali Khan jointly presided over the meeting, said an official. He said that the meeting discussed a strategy to launch operation for demolishing illegal structures including shops, business markets and houses, built on railway’s land.
The meeting was informed that in compliance with the orders of Supreme Court a full-fledged operation would be launched in Naurang town on Feb 10 to remove encroachments.
“On Feb 14 the Pakistan Railways with the assistance of local administration and police will remove encroachments from railway’s land in Lakki city,” the official said.
He said that in first phase the shops, markets and business outlets would be demolished in Lakki and Naurang towns. He quoted DCO Nisar Ahmad as saying that district administration and line departments concerned had been directed to extend full cooperation to railway authorities to make the operation against illegal encroachments a success.
DPO Gulzar Ali Khan also said that local police would provide all sorts of assistance to vacate railway’s land from encroachers.
He said that no one was above law and those, who had grabbed railway’s land, would face action as the land would be cleared of all kinds of encroachments.
