KARACHI, Jan 31: A young man was shot dead by attackers in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Tuesday night, police said.

The victim was identified as Naeem Abbas, 25. He was standing in Mughal Hazara Goth when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him.

The Gulistan-i-Jauhar police said he had been taken to the nearest private hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. His body was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

According to the police, the victim had come from Gilgit-Baltistan to Karachi two month ago.

They believe that personal enmity was the motive behind the killing.

The police later handed the body over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Vegetable vendor killed In another incident a man was shot dead in Bawani Chalie within the remit of the SITE-A police station.

The victim was identified as Omar Rehman, 42, a resident of Metroville Site. He was standing in front of his home when armed men targeted him. The victim died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

A police official said that the victim was a vegetable vendor and had come to Karachi a month ago from Swat and was living with his elder brother.

Police believe that tribal enmity was the motive behind the murder.

Watchman shot dead A watchman was killed and his brother injured in Ramswami within the remit of the Garden police station Tuesday night.

The incident took place near a factory where armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on Mohammad Ahmed, 55. His brother Sameer, 27, suffered bullet wounds.

Police shifted the victim and his wounded brother to the Civil Hospital Karachi.

They said that the victim was the watchman of the plot but the motive for the murder has yet to be ascertained.
