MIANWALI, Jan 25: A Pakistan Air Force jet crashed near here on Wednesday, but both the instructor and the trainee pilot ejected and suffered only minor injuries, sources said.

The Chinese origin FT-7, which took off from the PAF base inMianwali with wing commander Waqar and trainee flying officer Fatima on board, went out of control before landing. The plane, used for training, crashed into the open fields along the Mianwali-Kundian road.

The two pilots ejected and suffered minor injuries when they touched the ground, the sources said. Rescue teams from the PAF base reached the crash site and cordoned off the area. They shifted the pilots to the PAF hospital in Mianwali.

It was the second FT-7 crash in the Mianwali base range over the past few months. Earlier, a plane went down at Kalorkot in Bhakkar district in which a female pilot was injured.
