Court orders reconstruction of houses

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 28: Additional district and sessions judge-I, Dera Ismail Khan, on Wednesday ordered the Cantonment executive officer to provide reconstructed homes to the victims of Christian colony within three months.

According to the details, more than 50 families of Christian community were living inside St Thomas Church for the last one hundred years. On Nov 19, these families was demolished through an operation which was conducted by  cantonment executive officer Dr Sajjad who personally led the operation with the help of a heavy police contingent.

Affected families were ordered to vacate the site within three days. Elders of the community, Javed Masih, Rabbi Masih, Bashir Masih and others took the matter to the court and were granted a status-quo order by civil judge-III Dera.

The case was filed against Dr Sajjad, SSP Arif Nawaz, ASP Malik Yousaf and SHO Cantt Abdul Ghafoor.
