KARACHI, Jan 17: Imam Ahmed Raza Barelvi was the first person in the subcontinent to present the two-nation theory declaring that Hindu and Muslims were two separate nations. This was stated by retired Lahore High Court judge Justice Nazeer Ahmad Ghazi while speaking at the 32nd annual Imam Ahmed Raza conference organised by the Idara Tahqeeqat-i-Imam Ahmed Raza (ITIAR) at the Shaikh Zayed Islamic Centre auditorium, University of Karachi, on Tuesday.

ITIAR secretary-general Dr Majeedullah Qadri presented his institution’s annual report at the conference.

Dr Mohammad Zubair, Dr Mohammad Shakeel, Altaf Mujahid, Shizra Sikendari, Saba Noor and others also spoke. Several prominent figures including Federal Religious Affairs Minister Syed Khursheed Shah and Punjab University Vice-chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, sent their messages to mark the occasion.—Staff Reporter
