PESHAWAR, Jan 9: An anti-terrorism court here on Monday re-issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the complainant in murder case in 1994 of PPP MPA Badiuz Zaman in which the imprisoned chief of Tehrik Nifaz Shariah..i-Muhammadi Maulana Sufi Mohammad and several others have been facing trial.

When hearing of the case resumed, the court presided over by judge Asim Imam was informed that despite issuance of an earlier arrest warrant the complainant, Mohammad Ayub, then gunman of the killed MPA, could not be traced and he had not turned up.

The court, hearing several cases inside the Peshawar Central Prison due to security reasons, adjourned the hearing till Jan 23 with the direction to the police to trace the complainant.

The presiding officer, who is a judge of ATC at Swat, had on Nov 21 indicted Sufi and several others in the said murder case.

The MPA from Shangla, adjacent to Swat, was killed on Nov 3, 1994 in jurisdiction of Mingora police station. He was going to Buner for a party meeting when the TNSM members allegedly stopped him near Odigram and took him to a hotel in Mingora.

At the hotel, negotiations were in progress between the two sides when a person fired at the MPA, which resulted in his death. At that time the TNSM activists had occupied several government installations in Swat.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned till Jan 30 hearing of another case related to an attack on Khwazakhela police station in Swat by militants a few years ago. DSP Khaista Rehman Khan said in his statement that an accused in this case, Sher Mohammad aka Kasab, had been killed during a military operation.

The court directed the defence foot constable of the court to confirm the death of the accused. An inspector, Wahab Khan, also recorded his statement.

Similarly, another case pertaining to attack on Kabal police station by militants was also adjourned till Jan 30.
