KARACHI, Jan 8: Punters have a field day as outsiders won a lion’s share of events in a seven-race card of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Mare Sada Bahar was the only favourite besides two co-favourites Jungle De Malka and After Shock that obliged punters.

Outsider mare Salome Baby sprang first surprise by getting the better of filly Jal Pari by two lengths to land the opener. Public fancy mare Tripple Star had to be content with third place finishing ahead of Shah Pari.

Five-year-old bay horse Lucky pulled off the second upset defeating filly Dream Girl by a length and-a-quarter to claim the fourth race. Favourite filly Lolly For Dolly settled for fourth position.

Unknown pedigree horses – Prince Of Renala and Easy Match – followed pursuit of outsiders in the last two races restricted to unknown pedigree horses.

The former lowered the colours of favourite Humsafar imposing to three-quarter-of-a-length victory in the sixth while the latter galloped to a fluent six lengths victory over fancied Quetta Queen in the next and concluding race.

Sada Bahar delighted horse racing connoisseurs registering a facile eight-and-a-half lengths victory over Star Furry to claim the second race.

Jungle De Malka overcame Bacaradi by a length and-a-quarter while champion jockey Ghulam Shabbir II piloted home After Shock to a fluent four-and-a-half lengths victory over Tiny Terror.

Rider M. Amjad stole the limelight piloting home a splendid double through Salome Baby and Sada Bahar.

Meanwhile, the next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Saturday.
