KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Sindh Council has chalked out the programme to observe “youm-e-shahadat” of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in a befitting manner on December 27 in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah while addressing a press conference at chief minister house on Friday.
Provincial Ministers including Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri, Ayaz Soomro, Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi, Sharmila Farooqui were also present on the occasion.
He said public holiday will be declared on December 27 in Sindh while the province will request the federal government declare a national holiday on the occasion.
He said co-chairperson of PPP and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other senior party leaders will also attend and address the large gathering. This will be the biggest ever public meeting in the country surpassing all the present records, he added.
Shah pointed out that PPP Sindh council has reposed full confidence in the able leadership of Asif Ali Zardari.
Chief Minister said that President Zardari was in good health and he is now fully fit. He will be returning home in next few days, he opined.
Responding to a question, he said that Sindh government will facilitate Mian Nawaz Sharif in the holding of public meeting. We will provide him protocol as well as security and ensure that he enters Sindh with respect and leaves with respect, he added.
Replying to another question, Shah said that the present government has taken a tough stand on the issue of Nato attacks and asked USA to vacate Shamsi Air Base. President has shown patriotism and nationalism and said that Pakistan was an independent country.
