Published November 20, 2002

KARACHI, Nov 19: A young man was shot dead in Korangi in the police limits of Zaman Town on Tuesday.

Police said two unidentified men had come to a shop owned by Ziaul Haq, aged 22, a tailor master, on Monday and demanded money by force. The shopkeeper refused to give money to the extortionists saying he merely worked as an employee at the shop.

The same persons again came on Tuesday evening and demanded money from the shopkeeper, but he again refused. Following his refusal the extortionists opened fire on him and escaped on a motorcycle.

He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The victim was resident of Korangi No 1-1/2.
