KARACHI, Nov 19: Police registered a case against a suspected terrorist, who died in a hand grenade explosion in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar area on Friday, officials said on Saturday.
They said that the case (FIR 916/2011) was registered at the Sharea Faisal police station under Sections 3/4 of the Explosive Act and 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 against Moid Abdul Salam on behalf of the state.
Sindh Rangers issued a statement on Saturday stating that the killed man was a citizen of both the United States and Pakistan and carried ‘documents used in terrorist activities’.
“The Rangers found documents used in terrorist activities as well as an American passport in his possession that suggested the killed man had extensively travelled around the world.”
It said investigations revealed that Moid had divorced his wife about a month back while the Rangers found four children of the ‘terrorist’ in his flat during the ‘operation’. The children were handed over to their mother.
“A postmortem report suggests that he died in a hand-grenade explosion,” said the statement. “Evidence and DNA samples have been collected from the flat. Samples of his fingerprints have been sent to Nadra to confirm his identity. Further investigations are under way.”
