KARACHI, Oct 1: An armed clash between two groups of roadside vendors in a Sachal locality has claimed the life of a man while his brother and sister sustained bullet wounds, police said on Saturday.

They said the two groups in Omer Jogi Goth within the remit of the Sachal police station became engaged in a brawl over a piece of land where each of them wanted to set up their businesses.

The brawl turned violent and they exchanged gunfire.

“The firing left 48-year-old Ballu dead. The victim’s brother, Jatoi, and sister, Amna Bibi, also sustained bullet wounds,” said a Sachal police official.

“The deceased was an active member of one of the warring groups. We have arrested Yousuf and Javed and an FIR (653/2011) has been lodged under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against them on the complaint of the victim’s son.”
