KARACHI: Larkana fought back after trailing at half time to turn the tables on district West Whites 31-29 in a nail-biting finish in the NBP basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday evening.

Playing their first Group ‘A’ match, Larkana were at the receiving end and struggling at 13-17 at the interval due to fine scoring by Rashid, who ended with 17.

However, the outstation team fought with vigour on resumption and eventually emerged victorious to register first win. Shariq was outstanding for the winning outfit with 12. He was ably assisted by Azam Naz 6 and Halar 5.

Earlier, district West Greens chalked up an authoritative 54-34 victory over district East Whites in the Group ‘D’ match. The winners led 18-4 at half time.

Fahad Ahmed 13, Sabih 12 and Huwad 8 stole the limelight for winners while Hammad 11 and Shabbar 9 shone for the losing side.

In the third match, district South Greens continued their winning spree by getting the better of district Central Greens 30-28 in a nerve tingling encounter. The winners enjoyed 17-16 lead at breather.

Raja 9, Hammad 8, and Ali Ahmed 7 turned out to be the key scorers for winners while Mohsin and Umair Khan scored 8 and 6 for the losers.
