PESHAWAR, Aug 26: A policeman shot dead his colleague during duty hours at Peshtakhara Chowk on Bara Road on Friday.

An official of Peshtakhara police said Shehzad of community police, after exchanging hot words with his colleague, Hassan Rasheed, over a minor issue, opened fire, critically injuring him. Hassan Rasheed was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital but could not survive. The police arrested the accused policeman, and handed over the body of the deceased to his relatives.

BODIES RECOVERED: A beheaded and decomposed body of a woman was recovered by the locals while floating in the Kabul River Canal near Afghan Colony on Friday and handed over to Faqirabad police. An official said the woman seemed to have been killed about a month ago.

Body of a man was also recovered from Shagai Hidkyan area. An official said the deceased was identified as Akhtar Munir of Islamabad. The body was shifted to the local mortuary for autopsy. —Bureau
