SHANGLA: At least three houses collapsed after heavy showers coupled with strong winds and thunderstorm lashed parts of the district on Friday evening.

Heavy rain coupled with strong winds lashed the parts of the district which turned the weather pleasant but affected houses in Katkor area of Chakesar tehsil.

Assistant Commissioner, Chakesar Mohammad Hamid Saddiqui confirmed the incident and said that several other buildings were also damaged.

He said a cellular network site number ISGL03 was also damaged and added that the cases of the collapsed houses had been forwarded to the authorities concerned for compensation.

Replying to a question, Mr Saddiqui said the relief activities would be started on Monday and relief packages would be sent to the affected families.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy died after he was hit by a speeding Mazda truck in Kunshi area of Bisham city on Saturday.

Police said that Sharjil Khan, 7, was crossing the road near his maternal uncle’s house on Karakoram Highway when he was hit by the mini truck, injuring him critically.

The injured boy succumbed to his injuries on way to Ayub Medical Complex.
