LAHORE, Aug 25: Food squad of the City District Government of Lahore seized on Thursday 330 litre substandard milk and collected milk samples from various areas of the city.

A food department's team of the CDGL led by District Officer (Food) Dr Masood Ashraf checked as many as 74 milkmen at Sherakot, Begumkot, Raiwind Road, Rohinala, Ferozepur Road and Thokar Niaz Beg and found 330 litre unwholesome milk from some of them. The team also collected samples from 74 milkmen and sent these to laboratory test.

According to Dr Masood Ashraf, the department will initiate legal proceedings against the milkmen after receiving lab reports.

ARRESTED: Special price controlling teams of the CDGL on Thursday claimed to have initiated action against 168 shopkeepers/vendors for overcharging and violating market committee's price lists. The teams led by price magistrates inspected as many as 725 shopkeepers, retailers and wholesalers during last two days (Aug 22 and 23) and found 168 guilty. The officials imposed fine totalling Rs116,000 on 158 shopkeepers and got arrested six others for overcharging and hoarding.
