ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday dissolved all the PAC's special committees and sub-committees, DawnNews reported.

He said that the PAC could not be made to accommodate the government's necessities and agenda.

A statement issued by Mr Khan said that no special or sub committees of the PAC could hold any meetings before a proper meeting of the PAC itself.

Moreover, Mr Khan said that the government had given the position of auditor general of Pakistan to a controversial figure which laid bare the government's intentions.

Earlier on Tuesday, the government appointed Akhter Buland Rana as the auditor general of Pakistan for a four-year term.

The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) has opposed the appointment because it considers Mr Rana a controversial figure, saying that charges of irregularities are pending against him.
