LAHORE, Aug 22: The Liaqatabad police registered a case against two people for allegedly strangling a 42-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter over a marriage dispute in their Dhallay Flat on Monday.

The police responded to an emergency call and seized the bodies of Shahnaz Jameel and her daughter Iram in a room of the flat.

Shahnaz's another daughter Ayesha along with her husband came to see her mother but found the main door locked. After the couple found that cell phones of the victims were also not responding, they, with the help of neighbours, broke open the door and found the two women lying dead on which they informed the police.

Ayesha informed the investigators that a youth, Arshad, who worked in a city fruit market, used to visit her mother and wanted to marry Iram. She said her mother and Arshad got into an argument with each other over the same issue a few days ago.

The police handed over the bodies to the family after autopsy and registered a case against Arshad and his accomplice Makkhan on the complaint of Shahnaz's brother Falak Sher.

Shahnaz, the mother of four daughters, was living along with her only unmarried daughter Iram, who worked in a local beauty saloon.

Area DSP Shahzada Saleem said investigators would shortly gather call data of the victims to trace the suspects. He said they had collected necessary evidence from the crime scene.

Shot dead: Three boys shot dead a second-year student of MAO College over a petty dispute in Sanda on Monday.

According to the police, the suspects, identified as Hashim Butt and his accomplices Waqar and Awais, and victim Nabeel Chaudhry, of Sadaqat Park, had a squabble on college premises a few days ago and the former nursed grudge against the latter.

The suspects intercepted Nabeel near Hakeeman Wala Bazaar on Monday and shot at him and fled. Nabeel was taken to Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

A case was registered on the complaint of Nabeel's brother.

ACCIDENT: A woman was killed after a car ran her over on Multan Road near Scheme Morr. The Iqbal Town police said the body of the woman, appearing in her forties, had been sent to the morgue for autopsy and identification.
