This picture looks nice. If India and Pakistan together could have been the most powerful region on the globe. Instead now India is progressing where as Pakistan is on verge of destruction.

Partition ... looks good on paper but nobody accounted for untold misery for ignorant people for both sides. What south asian countries gained nothing but arms race and years of enmity.

The idea of the partition was not so bad; its execution was ill-conceived and it was done in haste and without mutual consent of all stakeholders -thanks to the British politics. Finishing touch came from the power weilders who were least interested in demoratc norms and general welfare of the general public.

We always blame others for our incompetencies & weakness, We are the responsible for todays Pakistan Condition not Partition. Pakistan is a Sacred Land.
Pakistan is a "BEACON OF HOPE" for whole Muslim World.

It was intended for good reason where peoples can live with harmony & peace as thought by the founding leader but things went wrong later & it was unable to deliver the promises which were told to the poors & lower class peoples. Only the upper class got the advantages but nothing for poors.

the leaders of that time could not foresee the impact of partition, now there are 350 million muslims living in india with peace in general whereas we are lost in different issues. the money/resources are being applied on defense by both countries instead on welfare of people. we have two atom bomb in one subcontinent for each other.

Happy independence day to all in Pakistan - as we get ready for it tomorrow in India; truly believe that the partition was not worth it - though some might look at the state of the 2 nations & say that India is better off.
At the least, all we could do is to take a solemn moment in remembrance of those killed in the senseless political violence

The wheels of History can not be reversed but can be given a right direction.
WE, THE PEOPLE of India and Pakistan should should cherish and celebrate the commonalities of our heritage and culture.
The previous generation had enough of hatred and suspicion,the present generation should start with a new trust account on a clean page.
On this auspicious occasion of our twin independent day,let us pledge for a new DAWN of unity and prosparity of our great subcontinent.

I wonder what would be the scenario of South Asia had there been no partition. Hindustan would have been a Superpower, and then perhaps we could have taught the U.S. a lesson at it's own game.

Pakistan and India needs to have excellent, tension free relationship for the idea of partition to work. Otherwise this current state of continued tension has mostly resulted into Pakistan being a failed state.

Good wishes to all both in India and in Pakistan. My advice to the youth - if you work hard, play hard and laugh a lot, you'll find life's really beautiful.
Interesting pics though. In the first pic are both Mr. Jinnah and Mr. Liaqat Ali wearing the same kind of shoes ? And, is that a cigarette in Mr. Ali's left hand ?
