KARACHI, Aug 9: Veteran Jaffer Qureshi shone with a fine all-round show as Pak Korangi CC defeated Advance Telecom by 27 runs in the 1st Vital Five Club T20 Ramazan Cricket Festival for the State Life Trophy at the Vital Five Ground here on Tuesday.

Pak Korangi CC, opting to bat first in the Group ‘D’ fixture, made 167-6 in their allotted overs with Afsar Nawaz (47 off 41 balls, four fours and one six) the top-scorer. Jaffer played an 18-cameo of 34 not out which included four fours and a brace of sixes, while Salman Hafeez hit four boundaries in an 18-ball knock of 26.

Talented all-rounder Hammad Azam claimed three for 18 with his brisk medium-pacers.

Advance Telecom, in reply, were restricted to 140-9 despite a breezy opening stand of 58 between Faraz Ali (25 off 18 balls, four fours) and Haaris Khan (34 off 16, four fours and two sixes). Fawad Afridi remained unbeaten on 31 in a 22-ball innings containing three sixes and two fours.

Off-spinner Atif Maqbool took three for 14 while Jaffer bagged 3-19 with his slow left-armers to clinch the Wall Street Man-of-the-Match award.
