MANSEHRA, Aug 6: Stray dogs have attacked and injured about 15 people, including women and children, in Naryala village here in Oghi during the last one week, the villagers said.

Mohammad Zareen and Gul Mohammad, who were injured by the dogs, told reporters in Oghi on Saturday that people of Naryala village had informed the wildlife and health departments about the presence of what they called the wild dogs in the area, but they were yet to take any action.

They said that over 15 people, including children and women, were attacked by these dogs during the last one week. They said that people could not move freely in the village due to fear of the dogs. The villagers said that rabies vaccine was also not available at the government health centers and people were compelled to buy the expensive vaccine in case of the dog bite.

HOUSE BURNT: A house was burnt to ashes after it caught fire due to electric short-circuiting in Dodial on Friday night.

Local people rescued the inmates and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts, but only when it had reduced all the household items to ashes. Zahir Shah, owner of the house, told reporters that the fire department was informed in time, but the engines reached after the fire was extinguished by local people.

LAND RECORD: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) is planning digital mapping of the land record of Balakot City.

Sources in the district government said the Provincial Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority and Suparco had signed an agreement for digital mapping of the Balakot and very soon the work on the project would be initiated.

In this connection, the Suparco officials gave briefing to Hazara commissioner and Perra director general and highlighted the importance of digital mapping of Balakot, which was flattened by October 2005 earthquake. Sources said that under the project all the revenue record of Balakot would be computerised and the patwar circles and moza record made available on the internet.

The commissioner has issued directives to the district coordination officer to extend full support to the Suparco officials. —Correspondent
