LAHORE: Pakistan’s Saadi Abbas put up a dazzling performance to win gold in the 67kg category event at the 10th Asian Karate Championship being held in China.

According to a message received here on Saturday, Saadi defeated South Korea’s Kim Ju Won in the 67kg gold medal fight.

Saadi, also a gold medal winner in the Commonwealth championship, demonstrated excellent skills to overcome his respective opponents from Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Hong Kong on his way to the final.

In all, 526 players from 33 countries are participating in the continental championship.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) said: “It is a matter of great honour for Pakistan that a karateka produced such a fine performance to win gold medal in the Asian championship.”—APP
