LAHORE, July 15: Police arrested former Sattukatla SHO Ghulam Dastgir after the Lahore High Court dismissed his interim pre-arrest bail in a case of abducting and forcibly marrying an already married woman.

Dastgir’s counsels resisted the arrest and scuffled with the police in the process. Nawankot police, however, succeeded in arresting the accused.

Muhammad Iqbal of Sattukatla got registered a case against the former SHO, accusing him of illegally occupying his house, kidnapping his wife, Uzma, and forcing her into marriage.

Iqbal’s petition for the recovery of his wife is also pending before the high court.
