Bandit arrested

LARKANA, July 15: Police have claimed to have arrested Ameero Khakhrani, carrying Rs50,000 head money after a brief encounter near Mithodero village on Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Larkana, Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh said at a press conference that acting on tip off, when a police party reached the place, the bandit Ameero Khakhrani opened fire at it which was returned. However, he was arrested and a Kalashnikov was recovered from his possession.

Khakhrani was about to flee to Balochistan when he was arrested, the SSP said.

The bandit was involved in more that 30 cases of kidnapping for ransom, murder and robberies, the SSP said. The cases were registered with different police stations in Shikarpur, Larkana and Dadu districts of Sindh and Jhat Pat of Balochistan, he said.

Police were busy in collecting the criminal record of Khakhrani, he said.

A criminal carrying Rs300,000 head money was arrested from the Loco Wali Pull area near Mirpur Mathelo on Friday, claimed police.

According to an official at Dad Leghari police station, they received information that criminal Akhtiar Khushk was present in the area with the intension of committing a crime. A heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and asked him to surrender.

He was arrested after his surrender and a 7mm rifle and bullets were recovered from his possession, the official said.

He said that Khushk was wanted in more than 20 cases of highway robberies, motorcycles snatching and kidnapping for ransom registered at different police stations of Ghotki district.
