SANGHAR, July 4: District Coordination Officer Ahmad Bux Khokhar presented on Monday Rs5509.820 million budget of the district for 2011-12 fiscal year with a surplus of Rs479.207 million.

The budget proposes no new taxes.

The DCO told a meeting of district officials that the budget was based on the district's share in income received from the provincial government.

He said that Rs75.807 million had been allocated for state organs (excluding law department and salary and non-salary components), Rs13.302 million for finance department, Rs55.127 million for land management, Rs33.000 million for highways, roads and bridges, Rs19.435 million for social security and social welfare, Rs6.474 million for forestry, Rs0.690 million for sports and recreation facilities, Rs96.261 million for administration (works), Rs33 million for building and structure, Rs2981.810 million for education, Rs458.282 million for health, Rs1.199 million for manpower and labour management, Rs34.539 million for animal husbandry and Rs3.146 million for fisheries.

The DCO said the district administration received its share of Rs5509.820 million from the Provincial Finance Commission for 2011-12 with an increase of Rs5 million over the last year. The district's share received under grants and subventions was 93.733 million, he said.

The non-development expenditure, he said, stood at Rs3720.259 million for salary of employees including 15 per cent ad hoc relief allowance. An amount of Rs225.619 million had been allocated for non-salary component, Mr Khokhar said.

An amount of Rs66 million had been allocated for Maintenance and Repair Programme, Rs3 million for disaster management, Rs300,000 for sports, Rs3 million for the health department's extended programme of immunisation and Rs90.950 million for the People's Primary healthcare Initiative.

The DCO said that Rs1140 million had been allocated for development schemes, which included Rs300 million block allocation, Rs75 million for schemes to be undertaken under the Citizens Community Board and Rs225 million for new schemes.
