LAHORE, May 30: The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) says the court's verdict to declare former president Pervez Musharraf a proclaimed offender is a bid to stop him from coming to Pakistan.

“Such tactics cannot deter his arrival,” APML spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said.

Mr Musharraf has announced arriving to Pakistan in March 2012. Mr Chaudhry criticised the PPP government for its 'duplicity' as on the one hand it was criticising the judiciary and on the other using courts for its “political agenda”.

On Monday, an anti-terrorism court judge declared the former military general an absconder in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Mr Chaudhry calls the decision a humiliation of the armed forces and intelligence agencies.

“The judges who have announced the judgment to declare the former president a proclaimed offender should also remember that they are accountable to God and by involving a former president in Benazir's assassination case they are tarnishing the image of the country worldwide”.

He demanded that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani clarify his statement that Osama bin Laden and Baitullah Mehsud were involved in the killing of Benazir.

Another APML leader Javed Badr said the decision seemed to be “politically motivated”.

“Musharraf will return despite such decisions,” he added.
