LAHORE, May 12: A couple allegedly committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills over a property issue in Jia Bagga locality of Raiwind on Thursday.

Quoting the family, the City Raiwind police said that 30-year-old Mubarik Ali, a father of four, apparently took the extreme step after getting dejected over the distribution of agriculture property among three brothers.

Mubarik's wife Zubaida also swallowed pills when she saw her husband dying. The couple was rushed to a hospital where they died.

Police inquiries showed that Mubarik did not want the division of the ancestral property, but his brothers thought otherwise. Police handed over the bodies to the family without autopsy.
