Policeman killed

KHAIRPUR, April 25: A police constable was killed when occupants of a car opened fire on a police mobile van in Pir Mangio area on Monday night. The car occupants fired on police van of Babarloi police station when it tried to intercept the vehicle.

The van's driver police constable Syed Hussain Ali Shah, 42, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Khairpur Civil Hospital but died before getting medical help.

Khairpur DPO Irfan Ali Baloch announced Rs2 million compensation for the bereaved family and job for the son of the deceased constable.

The DPO, meanwhile, suspended SHO of Babarloi police station, Manzoor Leghari, on charges of negligence in duty and directed him to report to police line Khairpur.
