QUETTA, April 15: Leaders of religious parties on Friday called upon the government to arrest the killers of Maulana Abdul Kabir Qadri Qambrani and a student of his seminary.

The Maulana belonged to Ahl-i-Sunnat Wal Jamaat and was gunned down in an attack in the Sariab Road area here on Thursday night.

Activists of the religious parties assembled outside the press club and mounted a demonstration against the killing of Maulana Kabir and his student.

Maulana Habib Ahmed Naqshbandi of Sunni Tehrik criticised the government over its failure to protect the lives of people. He said that it was the responsibility of the government to arrest the assailants.

The slain religious leader was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Killi Qambrani on the Sariab road. A large number of people attended his funeral.

The local administration deployed police, Balochistan Constabulary and Anti-Terrorist Force personnel outside mosques in the city to ward off any untoward incident during Friday prayers.
