THE investigation report of the Benazir Bhutto murder case was presented at a meeting of the PPP’s central committee … on the occasion of Z.A. Bhutto’s death anniversary. But its contents have not been made public. …Sources said that the report … indicates the names of those persons who paid money to the killers. Sources further disclose that Gen Musharraf is said to be involved in the murder. It is said if the report was made public, it might provide an opportunity to the accused to escape. The disclosure of the UN investigation commission exposed many people. Gen Musharraf was also held responsible for the murder of Benazir Bhutto. It is worth mentioning that the prime minister and the PPP leadership had ridiculed this report. This report discussed the political background of Pakistan in detail. While extremists have been held responsible, some political reasons have also been found. But this was not accepted by the establishment. …Now the report of the investigation conducted under the supervision of Interior Minister Rehman Malik has been presented…. The contents of this report are still to be known. It is a fact that the UN investigation report has a broad perspective, and some of the party leaders were also … held responsible. …The PPP leadership has been continuously working on the Benazir Bhutto case for the last three years, but no progress has been witnessed as yet. …The government has taken the bold step of reopening the Z.A. Bhutto case. …If justice is dispensed to the late Z.A. Bhutto, history would be corrected. …The investigation of Ms Bhutto case can be prove crucial if the culprits are punished. …We have the example of Bangladesh where the court punished the killers of the founder of the country, Shaikh Mujeeb…. — (April 5)
