KARACHI, Oct 13: Karachi University teachers will observe a half day strike to protest against the government’s policies on Monday, the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) said.

KUTS secretary Dr Riaz Ahmad on Sunday said that the strike decision has been taken on the call to observe a ‘day of action’ that was jointly given by the Joint Action Committee, Pakistan, the Federation of all Pakistan University Academic Staff Association and KUTS.

He said that the day of action is aimed at expressing dissent against the government’s policies of liberalization on the behest of the World Bank and to show solidarity with the masses.

The spokesman said that teachers would go on strike on Monday at 10.30am and would abstain from academic activities on campus.

He revealed that teachers would assemble at the Arts Lobby at 11am where a rally would be staged.
