LAHORE, March 21: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by some people over a marriage dispute in Shahdara Town on Monday. The victim has been identified as Kubra Bibi, daughter of labourer Shafaqat Ali, a resident of Qaiser Town.

Quoting the victim’s family, police said Ashraf of the same area wanted to get his son married to Kubra but her parents declined to do so. Ashraf had a grudge against Shafaqat and his daughter.

On Monday, the police said, Ashraf and his relatives -- Khalid, Manshah, Bhola, and Aslam -- stopped Kubra in the street, exchanged hot words with her and opened fire injuring her critically. They managed their escape. She was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

The police shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the five suspects, including Ashraf, on the complaint of Shafaqat Ali with no arrest so far.
