Escape bid

ISLAMABAD, March 5: An under-trial prisoner tried to escape from the District and Sessions Court here on Friday but his attempt was foiled and police arrested him again some meters away, the police said. Shan Zaib was produced in the court of Civil Judge Amir Mukhtar Gondal in the case regarding the recovery of illegal arms from his possession.

During the hearing of the case, he got a pin from one of the visitors present in the court room and hid it in his mouth.

On returning to judicial lockup from the court room, he unlocked the handcuff and tried to run away. The policemen guarding him started chasing him. They also shouted at other policemen and public to catch him.

Later, he was trapped in the F-8 Markaz parking area when he was caught in close ended place which resulted in his arrest.

The accused was handed over to Margalla police. In response to the complaint, a case was registered against him and the police started investigation to trace and arrest the visitor who gave him the pin during the court proceedings.
