SUKKUR, Feb 15: Two men from Karachi, kidnapped in Jamshoro on Sept 4, have been found in the desert area of Ghotki district.

Briefing newsmen on recovery of Fawad, a software engineer and Yasir Arain, a student, (both from Karachi) DIG Sukkur zone Zafar Abbas Bokhari said here on Tuesday that the kidnappers kept on shifting them from one place to another during the five months.

DPO Pir Mohammad Shah told newsmen that the hideouts of the bandits was traced after they demanded ransom through a cell phone call.

A raid was conduced in the area of Dad Leghari police station in Ghotki. The criminals opened fire, but when police fired back, the kidnappers escaped leaving the two men in the hideout.

During the press conference, Fawad and Yasir narrated their ordeal during captivity. They said their relatives had agreed to pay ransom after coming to know that they were being tortured by the kidnappers. They praised the police for the brave action which brought about their freedom.

The DIG said a special team had been set up to curb the incidents of crimes on the National and Indus Highways in Sukkur region.

He said four major gangs of bandits were engaged in incidents of kidnapping and robberies on the highways and police had collected information about them and their supporters.
