LAHORE, Jan 24: An elderly man who was allegedly burnt by his tenant lady to grab his property died at a local hospital on Monday.

The Sherakot police took the deceased’s tenant identified as Shamim Bibi into custody for setting the 70-year-old ablaze. Tahir Ali, of Kicker Pir, received burns at the kitchen of his house on Monday morning. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his burns.

The police said the elderly man had rented out upper portion of his house to Shamim Bibi. In a statement recorded by the investigators, Ali alleged that Shamim had set him ablaze to grab his property.

The police sent his body to the city morgue for an autopsy. No case was registered till the filing of this report. — Staff Reporter
