KARACHI, Jan 4: A young activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement, better known as MQM-Haqiqi, was found shot dead in Landhi on Tuesday, police and party sources said.

They said that the bullet-riddled body of the activist of the Aamir Khan-led faction of the MQM-Haqiqi, 20-year-old Sajjad Khan alias Nankhataai, was found in Landhi No 5. The body bore severe torture marks and multiple bullet wounds, they added.

“The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre,” said an official at the Landhi police station.

“The victim had been missing since Monday evening and it seems that he was kidnapped before being murdered by unidentified people.”

The police showed unawareness about the motive behind the murder. However, a spokesman for the Aamir Khan-led faction of the MQM-H said that the youngster was targeted due to his political association.

“He was associated with Unit-83 of our Landhi Sector. He is the fifth victim of targeted killings of our workers since last month,” he said.

Bullet-riddled body found

A young man was found shot dead inside an industrial unit in the Pak Colony area, police said.

They said that the body of 25-year-old Raza alias Sona was found dead in a factory situated in Jauhar Colony within the remit of the Pak Colony police station. He was shot a single bullet in the head.

“The victim had a criminal record and his family had thrown him out of their home a few months ago,” said an official at the Pak Colony police station.

“Since then he had been living and working at the factory. Early in the morning when a few workers entered the facility they found the body.”

He said the police had detained a few workers of the factory. However, no case was registered as yet.

The body was handed over to the family after due medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital Karachi.

The police said that the deceased had been booked and arrested in several cases of robberies, possessing drugs and illicit weapons.
