SKARDU, Jan 2: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah has said that survey of destroyed infrastructure in flood-hit areas has been completed and the affected people will soon start getting compensations as per mechanism adopted in other provinces.

He was addressing a gathering of flood affected people in Qumrah village here on Sunday. Mr Shah distributed cheques of Rs500,000 and Rs100,000 each among those who got killed and injured in flash floods in the Qumrah village.

He said the non-governmental organisations were also joining the government efforts in reconstruction of the flood affected areas. The GB chief minister said the chairman of the Bahria Town had also assured that he would build about 50 houses including mosques and schools in the flood affected villages in Skardu and Ghanche districts.
