RAWALPINDI, Sept 28: The local candidates of the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) have vowed to put an end to all kinds of corruption and malpractices prevailing in the society if voted to power in October 10 general elections.

While speaking on the launching ceremony of the party’s election office at Rawalpindi Cantonment, the MMA candidates, Tariq Munir Butt (NA-55) and Mohammad Hanif Chaudhary (PP-12), said all the rulers of the past indulged in looting and plunder.

October 10 is the day of their accountability, they added.

“All the social ills including bribe system, misuse of power and other illegal activities will be wiped out,” they said.

They asked the election gathering to recognize the actual value of vote and make use of it accordingly in the coming elections.

It is the last chance and people should not miss it, they added.

Mr Butt said residents of Rawalpindi cantonment were facing a lot of problems and despite paying various taxes, no civic amenities were provided in return.

He assured that the MMA, after coming to power, will solve these problems on priority basis.

On the occasion, a number of prominent personalities and representatives of different social and welfare organisations announced their support for the MMA candidates.

Our Reporter from Islamabad Adds: A deputation of the MMA, a united forum of Muslim religious parties, called on the Christian leader and former federal minister, J. Salik, here on Saturday.

The deputation discussed issues including solidarity between Muslims and Christians in the context of forthcoming general elections.
