KHAIRPUR: Strike against loadshedding

KHAIRPUR, Sept 27: A shutter-down strike was observed in Saghiyoon town as the protest against loadshedding and exaggerated bills dragged into its third consecutive day on Friday.

Calling for installation of transparent meters, the protestors also took out a procession.

Later, they observed a token hunger strike.

POLIO CASES: Four cases of polio have been detected in Khairpur district.

A meeting was held in the office of the district Nazim to consider the issue.

The meeting decided to hold anti-polio campaign from Oct 22 to 24 in the district.

Two polio cases were detected in the Ahmedpur union council in Kingri taluka. While one case was detected in Bhurgari and Khanpur union councils.

The meeting also directed the doctors to visit other villages in the area to assess the situation.

UNIQUE CONDITION: The residents of Haji village of Golo Wahan, near Khuhra town, on Friday said that they would cast their votes for any candidate who was willing to spend just one night in their village.

The villagers said that they have set the strange condition to make their representatives aware about their deprivations.

The village lacks all basic facilities, they said. It is also known for the abundance of mosquitoes.
