LARKANA, Dec 7: Six armed men kidnapped five peasants and a tractor driver from near Wada Bossan village, 15 kilometres from Ratodero, on Monday night

Muneer Panhyar, Fayyaz Mangi, Rashid Mangi, Sajid Mangi and Azad Sehar were thrashing paddy crop at a farm when six men suddenly appeared there and took them away at gunpoint along with tractor driver Jameel Khokhar.

However, after covering a distance of two kilometres, the kidnappers freed Muneer Panhyar, Fayyaz Mangi and Rashid Mangi — near Mughat Shakh (canal) in the Mohammadpur area of neighbouring Jacobabad district.

The kidnappers whisked away the remaining three people who are said to be poor haris.

No FIR was registered till Tuesday evening.

DPO Irfan Baloch could not be contacted despite attempts. Police sources said policemen from Larkana, Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts had gone after the kidnappers. They said that the gang involved in the incident had been identified and different teams of police officers constituted to recover the kidnapped people.

According to police sources, the DPO on Tuesday met Sajid Mangi, Azad Sehar and Jameel Khokhar in their village and collected information about the kidnapping incident. The DPO assured them of early recovery of the kidnapped people, sources said.

Aijaz Mangi, Arbab Khokhar and Allah Dino Sehar, relatives of the kidnap victims, have appealed to influential people of the area to help them in recovering their loves.
