KHAIRPUR, Sept 20: A fallen electricity wire claimed the lives of three children of a family on Thursday evening in the Darya Khan village in Thari Mirwah taluka.

Molai Ujjan had fallen upon the live electricity wire. His sister, Amna, tried to save him but she also fell victim to the surging electricity in the wire. Another child, Moula Bux, also tried to save them but he was also trapped in the wires and died on the spot.

The Hesco executive engineer of Ranipur visited the house of the aggrieved family and offered condolences.

STPP: Workers of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP) observed a token hunger strike on the fifth consecutive day of their protest here on Friday.

They were calling for acceptance of their five-point charter, including provision of jobs for local residents in gas and oil fields at Nara, payment of gas and oil fields’ royalty to the district government and repairing of Scarp tube wells.

Meanwhile, two STPP workers, Ghulam Murtaza Rind and Hafiz Rind, were arrested by the A-section police in Khairpur, an STPP press release stated.

JSSF: Workers of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation continued to protest in Shah Abdul Latif University for fifth consecutive day. They also observed hunger strike here on Friday at the Court Road. They called for withdrawal of increase in fees and restoration of the rusticated students’ admissions.
