CHAKWAL, Oct 17: A marriage ended in tragedy here on Saturday night when a young man firing in jubilation shot himself dead after one of the bullets hit and killed his cousin.

Qadir, who lives in Dhurakna village, was firing in the air in jubilation at the marriage of Khawar Shahzad, when a bullet hit his cousin Badar Mehfooz. Seeing Badar injured, Qadir shot himself to death.

Qadir died at the spot while Badar was pronounced dead in the hospital. Moving scenes were witnessed at the burial of the two cousins on Sunday.

In Chakwal, firing in the air in jubilation at different ceremonies, especially on marriage, is a routine.
