KARACHI, Sept 12: Mohammed Jawaid Alam, judge of Accountability Court No 4, has been appointed the administrative judge of all accountability courts in Karachi.

The notification to this effect was issued by the Sindh high Court on Tuesday.

The office of the administrative judge became vacant following the elevation of Judge Rahmat Hussain Jefferi of the AC-3 to the Sindh High Court.

Meanwhile, Judge Mohammed Jawaid Alam declared a former chairman of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation absconder in a case pertaining to the misappropriation of funds in the purchase of three container vessels for the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation in 1996.

A former naval chief, Mansoor-ul-Haq, was booked and arrested in the case.

Investigation officer Altaf Hussain submitted before the court that a co-accused, Jawaid Ali, former chairman of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, was still untraceable and his whereabouts could not be ascertained despite hectic efforts.
