ISLAMABAD, Sept 14 The Supreme Court invalidated on Tuesday the election of Balochistan Minister for Labour and Manpower Maulvi Mohammad Sarwar of JUI-F to the provincial assembly after the Higher Education Commission (HEC) said it did not recognise a seminary in Multan from where the minister had attained a graduation degree.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Ghulam Rabbani ordered the Election Commission to make arrangements for fresh elections in the PB-15, Musakhel, constituency.
At the last hearing, the court had noted that the copy of the degree and nomination papers of Maulvi Sarwar had been tampered with and ordered the HEC to verify whether the sanad was equivalent to bachelor's degree.
Sardar Asmatullah Khan of PML-Q had alleged that the Shahadatul Almia sanad issued by the Ittehadul Madressah, Multan, was not genuine.
