I WOULD like to invite the attention of the health secretary and the health minister to the sufferings of hundreds of employees of the federal government as the authorities have not yet appointed a civil surgeon/associate physician in Karachi.

A civil surgeon is responsible for providing health facility, as well as for assessing the fitness of government servants for the job at the time of their entry in service.

This post fell vacant on transfer of the former civil surgeon, and the charge was given temporarily to a medical officer.

More than a year has elapsed but the federal government has not appointed any permanent civil surgeon.

As it is a technical post and requires high level of excellence and clinical experience in the field of general medicine and surgery, the federal government should immediately appoint some one to the post
