UMERKOT, April 23 Speakers at a seminar have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, to take suo motu notice of Sindh's water shortage.

The seminar on “Public interest litigation” was organised by an NGO in collaboration with the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan at Sohriah Badshah Hall here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Ali Shah said that when the Supreme Court can take suo motu notice of water shortage in Faisalabad's one village, why can't it take notice of acute shortage persisting in Sindh.

Because of shortages, Indus delta was on the verge of destruction, water was not being released downstream Kotri, lands of Sindh were turning barren and agricultural economy of the province was badly suffering.

PPP leader and agriculturalist Dr Noor Ali Shah said that agriculture of Sindh had been damaged by what he termed exploitation of human rights and law on bonded labour.

Iqbal Rind, G.M. Bhagat, Khushhal Premi, Shabana Koush and others also spoke on the occasion.

He said whenever in power PPP government always brought prosperity for the people.

MNA Nawab Yousuf Talpur said that for elimination of poverty, the government was providing employment to jobless youths.
