SUKKUR, Aug 12: An inspector and two other officials of the Customs Intelligence were injured in a scuffle between smugglers and the Customs Intelligence at the Jacobabad railway station on Saturday night.

The Customs Intelligence had been tipped off that a bulk quantity of foreign goods including clothes and electronic items were being smuggled through the Quetta-Karachi night coach.

So the Customs staff surrounded the night coach at the Jacobabad railway station. When they tried to search bogy No57275, the smugglers attacked the Customs staff with ‘lathis’ as a result of which Inspector Sultan Kalhoro and two constables, Saghir Ahmed and Wahid Junejo, were injured.—Correspondent
