KARACHI: Two die in road accidents

KARACHI, Aug 7: Two persons fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Wednesday.

A young boy died in a road accident on Superhighway on early Wednesday morning. Police said a passenger coach coming to Karachi had made a stop-over near Sitara petrol station when Altaf, 8, in a bid to cross-over the highway was knocked down by a speeding coach (P-0459). Police said the victim died on the spot. His body was shifted to Abbasi Hospital.

Police said that errant driver managed to escape from the spot, and the police have impounded the vehicle.

In another accident, an unknown woman died in a road accident in Orangi Extension on late Tuesday night. Police said an unknown woman in her mid-50s was knocked down by a speeding minibus near Sabri Chowk in Sector 11.

The woman was rushed to the Abbasi where she was pronounced dead by the MLO.

The errant driver managed to flee, while police claimed to have impounded the vehicle (JE-3674).

CARJACKING: At least 17 vehicles — two cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

Two cars were stolen while seven motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint by the bandits.

Police said eight motorcycles were stolen on Wednesday.
